In the first picture we have the Army soldier that fight for our country everyday in Iraq. they felt as though Michael Moore is wrong for making this movie and trying to make George W. Race and Social Class: kinseyconfidential.org

This photos is a picture of a black and white hand being hold together. i feel this picture is about race and social class because people who are the same race normally are only with there kind of people. for example, black people are always label as trouble, mexicans are label as people who will always work for any amount of money and whites are label as the richiest people on earth. people who are in the same social class don't really involve themselves with other soical class because that is who they are group with. they stick with people who are the same as them. however, when you live and diversity world such as united states everybody is around different type of race, social class, culture and etc. every body communicate with one another and do not feel no type of way. everybody gets along and move together. Anywhere you go you see different back ground all over, this is why i chose this picture because everybody is a unit and not subjected to what they are. we are humans and all just want to live our life.

Blog Entry 17

The content of the food unit connects to previous texts ("The Allegory of the Cave," The Truman ShowThe Matrix, "Red Pill or Blue Pill?") and to the main theme of this class, as expressed in the title of our class blog Living in the Matrix by making life choices and being able to explore new things and look out into the reality if the world and not having to always be stuck in one place and not understand why somethings happens. being able push yourself into doing what you have to do, to better yourself. for example, food is just like making decisions. you have to make a decision to want to try new thing with food and just being able to succeed in not making a bad choice. another example, is how food such as fast-food can make people fall behind and not be able to be healthy and just have you sitting in gaining weight. i believe that i have been doing well in this course and also have been improving on my writing skills. i believe that i still have a little more work to do and also try to better myself by doing extra exercise to increase my thoughts and ideas for claim/thesis. my last response to my CAT was pretty good. all i have to stay focus on is just making my thesis/claim clear and being able to keep all my ideas and examples flowing in the right path of my essay. this is going to help me to get a good grade on my test essay and also better on the CAT.

Blog Entry 16

“Let Them Eat Fat” is an excerpt by Greg Crister from Harper’s magazine. This excerpt speaks about how fast-food effect teenagers weight and non-involvement in physical activities. Fast-food has also increase their companies force to target people of poor inner-city communities. Fast-food causes teens to become overweight for their age. Being overweight can have negative outcomes.

One significant idea in the passage is McDonald’s promoting “supersize your meal for cheap”. For example, if you order chicken nuggets, French fries, and regular soda, all they have to do is persuade you to buy the supersize just for a couple cents extra. You drink and French fries will be larger. This is a way teenager’s calories can get high and also gain weight. Teenagers always find these deals to be compelling because they feel they are getting their money worth. They don’t understand that this is bad for their health. Fast-food is popular for people to gain weight.

Teenagers who enjoy eating fast-food almost every day can deal with a lot of health issue that can affect them when they get older. For example, their calories will be too high. They will be overweight and too lazy. They will also not be able to enjoy physical activities. Another example, when I was 13yrs old, I use to always love going to McDonald’s. I would order the Mighty- kids meal. It always came with a cool toy and I ate it almost every day until I started to gain a couple of pounds. Kids started to tease me because of the way I looked. I stop eating Fast-food for a while and was so happy that I was back in shape.

Teenagers wouldn’t be able to play around and be active because they will feel tired real quick or short of breath. By them not taking good care of their body, their activities will decrease and they wouldn’t be able to play how the rest of the kids can play or get their exercise on. It is very important to be active and be able to have the shape to manage out how your activities can help you become healthy.

To conclude this essay, there are many ways to avoid over- eating fast-food on a daily basis. Second, try to exercise and eat fresh fruits or vegetables and Last, try to keep up with your weight. These  are ways that can help teenagers to be able to enjoy their teen years and not be teased about their weight and how they eat.

Blog Entry 15

The meatrix is a movie based on animals, such as pigs that were living in a farm barn. They thought they were   living the perfect life until one pig had to make the decision of taking the blue pill or red pill. He chose the red pill and made the choice to see into the reality of their life and know what is hidden to them that will affect them in the future. The pigs see the reality of why they were living in a display fantasy world. The real world was pigs being held as slave to produce what us humans eat, Such as bacon, frank and meat product. Life is covered by a display and never really knowing what reality is until you make the decision to move up in life.

The truth behind life is hidden and never really knowing the true reality or the truth of it. For example, pigs were held by farms to make food products and money off of them. Another example is people not really knowing where things come from and how it was made. Last, life is like believe it or not. If someone tells you something, you have the choice to believe what they saying or not. Things are always hidden to people because maybe people will feel bad about what is going on and wouldn’t want to be a part of that.

People that believe what people tell you and just going along with it. It is makes people not want to really question what reality is. For example, TV shows and Reality TV is one way people will just watch and believe that it is true. Another example is stories being story over and over again so that it can stay in your head that that is the truth and nothing else that is said afterwards is a lie. Last, people always believe that what happens that is on display is good enough to the truth and nothing more than that.

The truth is always hidden and never really discovered unless you choose to discover it. For example, choosing to move up in life and understand why it is the way it is. Accomplish certain things to be in a higher position in life. Being able to understand what reality is and what is being hidden for us not to find out why life is always displayed as something it is not. Another example is when I was little and I use to love setting cookies and milk for Santa Claus. I use to think that he really use to come to everybody house and place the gifts and eat the cookies and drink the milk. As I grew up and learn that that is just and display that people put in your hand to not want to find out the reality of anything. Little did I know it was my mother putting the gifts there and my brother and sister eating the cookies in the mid-night.

To conclude this essay, life is always being display in a way to hide the truth and also being never question if it is really the reality of life and why is it not expose to the people of this country and state.

i think the makers of The Meatrix films use The Matrix as the basis for their argument because the matrix is a film that people only do see what they are shown but not what the reality of it is. the meatrix is just a regular place like use but once neo made the choice to take the red pill and see the reality of life, he see that it is not as pretty as he was shown to him.the connection that these two films have in common is that they both show us what is like on the reality side of life and not what is just being shown and displayed in our face or in our lifestyle.

Blog Entry 13

The movie The matrix is about a future and reality that is shown to human beings. Neo has a choice to take a red pill or a blue pill. The red pill moves you forward into the future of reality. The blue pill keeps you in current existence. Neo made the decision to take the red pill and become a hero to save the world from negative people, who tries to destroy it. If i had to make the same choice as Neo, i would take the red pill because u would want to discover what reality is and accomplish more things in life.

Choices and decision that need to be made can help you move forward in reality. For example, choices based on school that can help you to succeed and move up. Another example is making good life decision to help you to be a better person. Also being able to move ahead in life and finally discover what reality really is.

The red pill can also help me to accomplish my goals by digging deeper and working harder. For example, working harder for what you desire and believe in. stay focus in school and at work in order to be able to make it to a higher position. Last, giving your all at what you do best in order to move ahead to the next level in life.

Being able to view life in a higher position and also understanding the value of reality is another good reason why i would take the red pill. its can help you to know how true and real life is. The things that will only happen in the future or happen in the following present, can help you to understand reality as well. Accomplishments and discovering  what reality is can help you understand life better.

To conclude this essay, reality and life is filled with making choices and also being able to understand how far both of them can take you to be able to move ahead to the higher position and accomplish what you desire.

blog entry 11

"The Dangers of Reality TV" is an extract from timothy sexton, who believe that reality TV sends out unnecessary message that influences the minds of the youth of our society. Reality TV is a danger to the youth of our society because it decreases youth's ability to further their education and take want to take the fast way to get money.

competition is the key to success when it comes to reality TV. the image and the value it brings is all that matters. education is not a key to use when dealing with reality TV. reality TV is the fastest way to making  money. however, education is always the key to further your dream to be successful. it gives you the ability to move on to the next level and get to a higher position without your education, you wont be able to have the full- length knowledge to become successful at your career.

one idea in the passage that i felt is significant is the key to being successful in the industry of reality TV show is image rather than your ability in your education. this is true. people who are in reality TV shows, are only being use for their image. they don't use their ability of education. they only care for what image they make that makes their values for money at the end of the day. you don't have to be the smartest person to be in a reality TV show. youths watch these shows and start to believe that they don't need an education to get rich or become famous. however, being able to be rich and famous is also about your ability to be educated and enforce what you know to your lifestyle.

my experience with knowing that education is the key to being successful and reaching a higher position, is when i was in my senior year in high school i was in a program called W.I.A. this program help seniors get ready for college and start to build their careers. i had workshops that helped me  improve in school and i was also working for a paid internship at a hospital, as a volunteer. they helped e to get on the right track for college. it was a great experience because i was doing hands on work and also learning new things that can help me build my career to become  pediatrician RN nurse.

to conclude this essay, education can get you further in life than just a couple of months on a reality TV show for free money. by continuing to further  your education , money will always be more and your ability to do anything you want to do will always be higher and help to make it to a higher position.

My experience with THE MATRIX discussion telecommute was pretty interesting. In the beginning I was kind of confused, but I got the hang of it. The questions that was being discuss went well. Especially about which pill to take and what the outcome will be if you choose the red pill or blue pill. The only problem I had was when I posted a response to the question and it didn’t show on the discussion wall. But ill figure it out. I learn in this discussion that life is filled with different things to do and discover. It is our chose to make that decision to move forward or keep going backwards. By moving forward you can discover a lot of thing and experiences a lot of lesson that should be taught of known. Moving backwards will only push you back to what you knew and learned already.

Blog Entry 8

MY OPINION AND ANSWER TO TOPIC 5:

Truman’s disobedience is good because everything around him even his family was fake. His whole life was made into a show and was controlled by a man named Cristoff. Cristoff felt that the place he made for Truman is where Truman should be. He felt no other people but the place he built for Truman was the best. When Truman found out that his life was being taped all his life, he started to disobey the laws and rules of his society and try to escape the fake world he has been living in. An individual like Truman have the moral obligation to break from rules and societal duties that he does not consider right or interfere with his desires because Truman is an adult who have certain choices to make that will only make him happy. Even if it means breaking the laws or rules of his society.

My experience with breaking the law was when I was a junior in high school and my best friend had gotten jump in Manhattan by a group of girls. I was so mad that we went back out there and I just blacked out. My loyalty to my friend means a lot to me. A man grabbed my best friend and the next thing I know I punched the man in the face, not knowing he was an under cop I was so embarrassed and I know that I have broken a big rule in the society of Manhattan. I had to deal with the consequences and also know that my desires to be loyalty to my friends or anybody that love and care for can cause a sever punishment and also cause your freedom because disobeying the law or rules of your society is like taking your freedom down a road of a lot of consequences. Being able to go after you desire can cause many problems but not if you think before acting.

Blog Entry 7: Reflection and Evaluation

I have look back at my previous work and i think i have done a good job at organizing my paragraphs and being able to write a well introduction. However, i need to improve on how to organize my ideas into sequence, so that it can flow with my thesis. I also need to know how to avoid making run on sentences and come up with more examples to support my essays. There is only a little bit on challenges i am facing in this class is being able to come up with different was to outline my essays before writing it and also how to be better at proof reading my work before submitting it in. i believe that i need to be able to brain storm and think about what i really want as my claim and be able to have good evidence to support it. i was nervous because i understood what the main idea was, but i didnt think i came up with a good claim and support ideas, so that it was clear and understood. my question on the CATW practice test was that " is children who exercise get high grades on the test?" i answer it by introducing the article by it title and author and also stated the main idea and stated my claim about it. I also believe that i need to improve on my pace and take my time and just think before i start to write i think. brain storming helps me and i hope i learn to be able to improve on this skills that i have listed above to help me get a great score on my test score and help me to pass my essays in the course of the semester.

Blog Entry 6: Review Socrates' and Plato's Allegory (or "Parable")

The Allegory Of The Cave from book VII of The republic by Plato states that human beings that have been chained up in an underground cave all their life, can only adapt to a world of shadows and echoes of unfamiliar objects. These human beings are chained up and cant turn their heads. when a former prisoner is released, He discover a new world. The real world. He is excited and wants to share his new experience with his follow prisoners. But when he try to go back to the underground cave, his follow prisoner does not recognize him or his voice. He has become just another unfamiliar object of a shadow and echo to his follower prisoners. I believe that if u are chained up or have stayed in one place your whole life you can never really know what other lifestyle is out there if u don't explore.

Everybody in life have to adapt to a new place in their life at some point. However, being chained up most of your life and when are finally free you don't really know how to adapt to the new world and the people that is in it. you only can adapt to where you been most of your life. for example, I've been living in New York all my life, if i decided to up and leave New York and move to a different state i would have to adapt to that environment and be able to survive there because that is my new home. yes, i can easily pack up and move back to New York but, how would that show me that there is another different life style if i just stay in one place. exploring the world is a great idea because you see how different live there life and how they adapt to their own place.

Everything that is made on this earth is amazing. I plan to be successful and exploring what is on the earth by traveling around the world, discovering different types of life styles and even trying new things. i also plan on become a great nurse and helping people with their illness. i believe that if u stay in one place you will never really know what it is like in another state or country. for example, Im from Nigeria and i visit there every 2 years. recently i just went there this past summer and i enjoyed my whole time there. if i never go to my home country i would never know how life is out there or what is like to go there and just enjoy how they live life. many people live life different. Everybody have a different life style.

i use to believe in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy because when i was little that all that people kept telling me and i kept cookies and milk next to the Christmas tree and whenever my tooth fell out i always put it underneath my pillow. it will be gone and i use to always believe they were real. As i started growing up i realize that it was my mother or my big bro or sis who was either eating the cookies or putting money underneath my pillow. By me now knowing the truth i started to look at things different. i started to wonder what it is like to go somewhere else and everything they tell you u believe but find out later on down the line that it is fictional.

To conclude this essay, I believe that if u are chained up or have stayed in one place your whole life you can never really know what other lifestyle is out there if u don't explore. however, if being chained up is stopping you from exploring the real world then let yourself free and be able to adapt to other different type of lifestyles. its better to know different types of reality and explore the different things in front of you.

Blog Entry 4:" Hype Workshop"

Advertisement is very popular in the United States. From TV commercials, radio commercials, and even displays ads.TV commercial have increased up to 200,000. This makes TV shows shorter than they use to be. I remember when i was at home with my brother and sister and we was watching a movie on TV and we were so upset because every five minutes the movie was going on a commercial break. We did not want to change the channel because we never knew when the movie will be back on. I agree with the author that advertisement is over populated  on selling  america's view on products.

In the excerpt, "Hype" by Kalle Lasn speaks about how advertisement is over populated and how it increases steadily. you can find ads anywhere you go such as on the bus, commercial trucks and even stadiums. America's view is filled with different types of logos and products message to be advertised. Kalle Lasn states that " video carte installs interactive screens on supermarket carts so that you can see ads while you shop".

The TV commercial are all more than 3 minutes now and it takes up space from TV shows or movies to be played. Everywhere you turn, there is and advertisement going on. Its always telling you about the latest trend,   what new movies will be shown and also how to join programs such as School and college degree. TV commercial always get the little ones eye with the newest toys and junk food that is being advertised., most people who know about job availability, trade school, GED programs and etc., are all different types of advertisement that help people to be able to continue to do things positive with the time and also make a better way of living.

12 billion display ads are also another way advertisements are being display and is everywhere. Buses, train stations, stadiums and even on commerical trucks are different places and things here ads are being displayed and help advertisements to be world known and seen and helps increase a mental pollutants. this is also another way that america corporate is filled in logo and product message.
