Race and Social Class: kinseyconfidential.org

This photos is a picture of a black and white hand being hold together. i feel this picture is about race and social class because people who are the same race normally are only with there kind of people. for example, black people are always label as trouble, mexicans are label as people who will always work for any amount of money and whites are label as the richiest people on earth. people who are in the same social class don't really involve themselves with other soical class because that is who they are group with. they stick with people who are the same as them. however, when you live and diversity world such as united states everybody is around different type of race, social class, culture and etc. every body communicate with one another and do not feel no type of way. everybody gets along and move together. Anywhere you go you see different back ground all over, this is why i chose this picture because everybody is a unit and not subjected to what they are. we are humans and all just want to live our life.

The content of the food unit connects to previous texts ("The Allegory of the Cave," The Truman ShowThe Matrix, "Red Pill or Blue Pill?") and to the main theme of this class, as expressed in the title of our class blog Living in the Matrix by making life choices and being able to explore new things and look out into the reality if the world and not having to always be stuck in one place and not understand why somethings happens. being able push yourself into doing what you have to do, to better yourself. for example, food is just like making decisions. you have to make a decision to want to try new thing with food and just being able to succeed in not making a bad choice. another example, is how food such as fast-food can make people fall behind and not be able to be healthy and just have you sitting in gaining weight. i believe that i have been doing well in this course and also have been improving on my writing skills. i believe that i still have a little more work to do and also try to better myself by doing extra exercise to increase my thoughts and ideas for claim/thesis. my last response to my CAT was pretty good. all i have to stay focus on is just making my thesis/claim clear and being able to keep all my ideas and examples flowing in the right path of my essay. this is going to help me to get a good grade on my test essay and also better on the CAT.

“Let Them Eat Fat” is an excerpt by Greg Crister from Harper’s magazine. This excerpt speaks about how fast-food effect teenagers weight and non-involvement in physical activities. Fast-food has also increase their companies force to target people of poor inner-city communities. Fast-food causes teens to become overweight for their age. Being overweight can have negative outcomes.

One significant idea in the passage is McDonald’s promoting “supersize your meal for cheap”. For example, if you order chicken nuggets, French fries, and regular soda, all they have to do is persuade you to buy the supersize just for a couple cents extra. You drink and French fries will be larger. This is a way teenager’s calories can get high and also gain weight. Teenagers always find these deals to be compelling because they feel they are getting their money worth. They don’t understand that this is bad for their health. Fast-food is popular for people to gain weight.

Teenagers who enjoy eating fast-food almost every day can deal with a lot of health issue that can affect them when they get older. For example, their calories will be too high. They will be overweight and too lazy. They will also not be able to enjoy physical activities. Another example, when I was 13yrs old, I use to always love going to McDonald’s. I would order the Mighty- kids meal. It always came with a cool toy and I ate it almost every day until I started to gain a couple of pounds. Kids started to tease me because of the way I looked. I stop eating Fast-food for a while and was so happy that I was back in shape.

Teenagers wouldn’t be able to play around and be active because they will feel tired real quick or short of breath. By them not taking good care of their body, their activities will decrease and they wouldn’t be able to play how the rest of the kids can play or get their exercise on. It is very important to be active and be able to have the shape to manage out how your activities can help you become healthy.

To conclude this essay, there are many ways to avoid over- eating fast-food on a daily basis. Second, try to exercise and eat fresh fruits or vegetables and Last, try to keep up with your weight. These  are ways that can help teenagers to be able to enjoy their teen years and not be teased about their weight and how they eat.

Blog Entry 15

The meatrix is a movie based on animals, such as pigs that were living in a farm barn. They thought they were   living the perfect life until one pig had to make the decision of taking the blue pill or red pill. He chose the red pill and made the choice to see into the reality of their life and know what is hidden to them that will affect them in the future. The pigs see the reality of why they were living in a display fantasy world. The real world was pigs being held as slave to produce what us humans eat, Such as bacon, frank and meat product. Life is covered by a display and never really knowing what reality is until you make the decision to move up in life.

The truth behind life is hidden and never really knowing the true reality or the truth of it. For example, pigs were held by farms to make food products and money off of them. Another example is people not really knowing where things come from and how it was made. Last, life is like believe it or not. If someone tells you something, you have the choice to believe what they saying or not. Things are always hidden to people because maybe people will feel bad about what is going on and wouldn’t want to be a part of that.

People that believe what people tell you and just going along with it. It is makes people not want to really question what reality is. For example, TV shows and Reality TV is one way people will just watch and believe that it is true. Another example is stories being story over and over again so that it can stay in your head that that is the truth and nothing else that is said afterwards is a lie. Last, people always believe that what happens that is on display is good enough to the truth and nothing more than that.

The truth is always hidden and never really discovered unless you choose to discover it. For example, choosing to move up in life and understand why it is the way it is. Accomplish certain things to be in a higher position in life. Being able to understand what reality is and what is being hidden for us not to find out why life is always displayed as something it is not. Another example is when I was little and I use to love setting cookies and milk for Santa Claus. I use to think that he really use to come to everybody house and place the gifts and eat the cookies and drink the milk. As I grew up and learn that that is just and display that people put in your hand to not want to find out the reality of anything. Little did I know it was my mother putting the gifts there and my brother and sister eating the cookies in the mid-night.

To conclude this essay, life is always being display in a way to hide the truth and also being never question if it is really the reality of life and why is it not expose to the people of this country and state.
